Evers signs bill authorizing permanent restraining orders

Gov. Tony Evers signed Senate Bill 519, now 2021 Wisconsin Act 256, which authorizes judges to issue a permanent restraining order if the respondent is found to have been convicted of certain sexual assault offenses and the petitioner seeking the restraining order was the crime victim

In addition to Senate Bill 519, Evers signed a total of 15 bills into law and vetoed the remaining 28 on Friday.
