The Wisconsin Judicial Council received its third open-records request of the year at its monthly meeting on Friday.
The request came from Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, the state’s chamber of commerce and largest business trade association. It asks for records and communications sent or received from July 1 to Oct. 18 by any member of the Judicial Council on matters related to the Wisconsin Legislative Council, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, and Wisconsin Civil Justice Council.
The Wisconsin Civil Justice Council made an open-records request to the judicial council in January relating to 2017 Act 235. The act made various changes to the state’s civil-litigation rules, including its rules of civil procedure. Bill Gleisner, chairman of the judicial, said the council had also received another open-records request in 2019 before the WMC request.
WMC is asking for the records as soon as possible. Gleisner informed all members of the request at council meeting on Friday and emailed a version of it to members in the afternoon. Follow @WLJReporter
