The lifelong Iron County resident and former Iron County District Attorney Tony Stella will serve on the county’s circuit court. Gov. Tony Evers announced Stella’s appointment on Thursday.

Stella served as Iron County district attorney from 1986 to 1989 and again from 1995 to 1997. The University Texas School of Law graduate also served as the county’s corporation counsel and attorney for the city of Hurley and the towns of Knight and Carey.

Stella will fill a vacancy that opened up following Judge Patrick Madden’s unexpected death in July. His term will run through June 30, 2020.
