Evers taps personal-injury lawyer for Milwaukee register of deeds

Gov. Tony Evers recently announced that he has appointed a lawyer to take over as Milwaukee County Register of Deeds.

Evers announced Friday that he had appointed Israel Ramon to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of John La Fave, who stepped down on April 12 and is under federal investigation over his role in an alleged invoicing scheme that took place whie he was register of deeds.

Ramon, who earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 1994, is a personal-injury lawyer and partner at Ramon & Medrano in Milwaukee. He practices workers’ compensation and Social Security disability law. Ramon is also a supplemental court commissioner in Milwaukee County Circuit Court.
