During her 25 years of litigation experience before federal and state courts, Lisa Lawless has seen and heard it all.

Lawless, senior counsel at Husch Blackwell, has handled more than 100 appeals in state and federal courts, including arguing before the Wisconsin Supreme Court four times since 2010.

In her career, she can claim numerous professional accomplishments as a top appellate lawyer and litigator.

She’s also a gifted writer and uses her legal mind to publish articles in the Wisconsin Lawyer publication while serving as a leader in the State Bar of Wisconsin organization.

She has also handled cases involving a wide variety of subjects, ranging from large complex litigation to medium-sized and small cases.

Beyond consumer-financial-services litigation, she has argued commercial litigation and intellectual-property cases, including some dealing with patent infringement, trademark infringement, copyright and licensing disputes.

“My law practice has been intellectually stimulating, challenging and personally rewarding,” Lawless said. “I enjoy the artistry and strategy of it — thinking many steps ahead and using creativity and the written or spoken word to persuade and educate the court or fact finder to rule our way.

“It is a joy to serve the legal community and community at large alongside other lawyers and community leaders,” she added.

“It is always inspiring and energizing to see what we can accomplish by working together. Being named one of the Leaders of the Law is a team accolade — it honors the many people who have mentored, encouraged and supported me throughout my life and career. I am grateful for all the opportunities I have been afforded, allowing me to shine and grow professionally and personally.”

She has devoted her time and talents to organizations like the Wauwatosa Facilities Advisory Committee, where she was a former chairwoman. There, she was able to advocate for a referendum in the Wauwatosa School District. Buoyed by her support, the referendum was passed by 61 percent of the vote.

“She is a lawyer’s lawyer and the go-to person among our colleagues and her friends and peers throughout the state on issues of appeals and other complicated legal matters,” said her colleague, Daniel Miske.
