The chief judge of the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals is among the guest speakers that will be featured at the Wisconsin State Bar’s Annual Meeting and Conference.
The meeting and conference will take place from June 21 to June 22 at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, 7036 Grand Geneva Way, Lake Geneva. The event includes networking and sessions that count for continuing-legal-education credits.
Judge Diane Wood will speak at the opening plenary from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. on June 22.
Wood, who earned her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1975, has been a judge on the 7th Circuit since 1995. She was appointed to the bench by President Bill Clinton. She has been chief judge for the appeals court since 2013.
Wood will be interviewed by William Domnarski, a lawyer and author. He most recently wrote a biography of former 7th Circuit judge Richard Posner, who abruptly retired from the court last year.
Other speakers at the meeting and conference include Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Pat Roggensack, Justice Dan Kelly, the political satirist P.J. O’Rourke, the attorney Dana Tippin Cutler, the past president of the Missouri Bar, and Richard Painter, a law professor and former chief ethics counsel to the White House.
