MILWAUKEE (AP) — A third defendant has pleaded not guilty in the death of a 5-year-old girl who was fatally shot while sitting on her grandfather’s lap in Milwaukee.
Arlis Gordon appeared in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Thursday where a judge ruled there was enough evidence for him to stand trial on first-degree reckless homicide in the death of Laylah Petersen last November.
Two other men charged in the case, Carl Barrett and Paul Farr, were ordered to stand trial earlier and have pleaded not guilty. Barrett is also charged with first-degree reckless homicide. Farr is charged with harboring or aiding a felon.
A vigil marking the one-year anniversary of Laylah’s death is scheduled for Friday.
