Milwaukee County moving forward on corporation counsel hire

Listen to this articleMilwaukee County’s Judiciary, Safety and General Services Committee approved Paul Bargren as the county’s new corporation counsel Thursday.
Bargren, who in September retired as a litigation partner from Foley & Lardner LLP, was appointed by County Executive Chris Abele. He was chosen to replace Kimberly Walker, whom the board fired in July after some county supervisors said she sided with Abele’s office more often than she sided with the board.
Bargren’s appointment still has to be approved by the full County Board. Its next meeting is Dec. 19.
Prior to working at Foley & Lardner, Bargren worked as a journalist for newspapers in Wisconsin and Illinois.
