A La Crosse criminal defense attorney who allegedly failed to separate client money from the rest of his firm’s accounts is facing a public reprimand from the state Supreme Court.
Kenneth Peterson, who has practiced law in Wisconsin since 1970, allegedly did not deposit in a trust account $1,000 paid by a client, according to an Office of Lawyer Regulation complaint filed Friday. He also admitted to investigators that he did not draft a written agreement between himself and the client, who he was representing on drug charges.
OLR attorneys are requesting that the high court publicly reprimand Peterson.
Peterson did not immediately return a phone call.
