WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) — A Wausau woman has been charged with concealing the death of a child after prosecutors say she delivered a baby prematurely and threw it in a trash bin.

A WSAW-TV report says 33-year-old Zoua Yang was jailed Tuesday on a $1,000 cash bond.

Yang told authorities she didn’t know she was pregnant when she gave birth on Oct. 10.

Court documents say the baby didn’t move or cry, and investigators weren’t sure whether it was born alive. They believe it was two months’ premature.

A witness told investigators Yang put the baby in a plastic bag and threw it away. A family member tried to retrieve it from the garbage bin but the trash had already been picked up.

Online court records didn’t list a defense attorney.
