Wisconsin is set to receive part of a multimillion dollar settlement Kmart Corp. is going to pay regarding false claims and statements made regarding the partial filling of prescriptions.
According to the original suit, filed in the Eastern District of Michigan, Kmart returned unclaimed prescription medication to their stock even though they were billed to health insurance programs, according to a news release put out by the state Attorney General’s Office. The incidents went on between January 2004 and October 2005, according to the release.
As part of the settlement, the company will pay several states, territories and the federal government $2.55 million in damages and penalties to pay for the harm it did to Medicaid, Medicare and other healthcare programs, according to the release. Wisconsin will receive about $35,000.
