20 days in jail in illegal strip search case

Listen to this articleMILWAUKEE (AP) – A Milwaukee County judge has sentenced a former police officer to 20 days in jail for “not stepping up” when fellow officers were performing illegal searches of suspects.
Jacob Knight was one of four Milwaukee police officers charged in the illegal strip search case. Knight earlier pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of an illegal body cavity search as part of a plea deal in which a felony misconduct charge was dismissed.
Knight has resigned from the police department. WTMJ-TV said Judge Jeffrey Wagner also sentenced Knight to 60 hours of community service and fined him $300 Friday.
More than a dozen victims of the illegal searches have filed federal civil rights suits against the city and a number of officers.
