Prevea Clinic agrees to settle lawsuit

MILWAUKEE (AP) – The U.S. Attorney’s Office says a company that provides health care in northeastern Wisconsin has agreed to settle a lawsuit claiming it submitted false Medicare claims.

Federal prosecutors say Prevea Clinic Inc., will pay $94,000 to settle the lawsuit filed under the whistleblower law that allows citizens with knowledge of fraud to bring a civil action on behalf of the United States and share in any recovery.

The lawsuit alleges Prevea submitted claims for services from an assistant surgeon who did not have credentials required by Medicare.

Prevea denies the allegations.
