MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A doctor says a 15-year-old Wisconsin girl who wasted away to 68 pounds after allegedly being denied food weighed 82 pounds as a 9-year-old.

Dr. Barbara Knox of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Children’s Hospital examined the girl last month. At a preliminary hearing for the parents Friday, Knox testified that there was no indication the weight loss was due to an eating disorder.

She reiterated her diagnosis that the girl suffered “serial child torture” with prolonged exposure to starvation.

A judge found probable cause to advance to trial. An arraignment date hasn’t been set.

Defense attorney William Hayes represents the father. He questioned Knox about the girl’s mental history, hinting toward a suggestion the teen’s allegations might be tied to anger over being abandoned by her biological mother.
