ALGOMA, Wis. (AP) – A high school student in northeastern Wisconsin has filed for a restraining order against the district’s superintendent.

The 16-year-old student says Algoma School District Superintendent Ronald Welch pushed him in the chest and grabbed his face and arm during a confrontation Oct. 12 at the high school. Welch said the Algoma School Board has reviewed the incident and found he did not violate any policies.

According to the court filing for the temporary restraining order, the altercation occurred when the student met with Welch after “failing to regroup” in a classroom.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette says police investigated the incident and has forwarded a report to the Kewaunee County district attorney. A hearing on the restraining order is scheduled for Thursday.
