RACINE, Wis. (AP) — A Racine man accused of causing fatal injuries to his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son is due in court this week for a motion hearing on charges of first-degree reckless homicide.
Prosecutors say 41-year-old Manuel Garcia punched Jovani E. Martinez at least three times because the boy wouldn’t keep still. An examination showed Jovani had broken ribs and a lacerated liver and pancreas. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 60 years in prison.
Garcia was charged in March and is scheduled to be in Racine County Circuit Court on Monday.
