The Judicial Selection Advisory Committee has narrowed the list of candidates for vacant seats in the Calumet and Outagamie county circuit courts.

Finalists for the Calumet County seat, which opened after the retirement of Judge Donald Poppy in June, include Jeff Froehlich, Calumet County assistant district attorney; Daniel Hoff of Hoff Law Offices LLC, Appleton; and Menasha attorney Carey Reed. Nine attorneys applied for the seat.

In Outagamie County, finalists for the Branch 2 seat are Curtis Borsheim, Outagamie County assistant district attorney; Gregory Gill Jr. of Gill & Gill SC, Appleton; and Vince Biskupic, Biskupic Legal Group LLC, Appleton. Five attorneys applied for the seat, which opened after the retirement of Judge Harold Froehlich in April.

Tom Evenson, spokesperson for Gov. Scott Walker, said both positions could be filled prior to the start of judicial training for new judges that starts in mid-September.

“We are aiming for late August or early September,” Evenson said. “We currently have 12 openings we are working hard to fill.”
