During the past four years, my blog posts have focused primarily on legal resources or online sites that would benefit the law community. On a rare occasion, I highlight a website that I find just plain interesting. This is one of those posts.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln houses the Journals of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The website provides the “text of the celebrated Nebraska edition of the Lewis and Clark journals, edited by Gary E. Moulton. Moulton’s edition — the most accurate and inclusive edition ever published.”
The collection includes more than 4,000 full text journal pages and includes entries from Lewis, Clark, Floyd, Gass, Ordway, and Whitehouse.
The collection also includes a significant amount of additional materials including images, maps, audio files, and links to relevant articles. The site supports a search box to query the entire collection, however due to writing and spelling issues of the time, the results may not be comprehensive. The FAQs and Introduction offer some additional insight.
