KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — A defendant who had pleaded guilty to assaulting women on a Kenosha County bike trail told a judge he wanted to withdraw the pleas moments before he was to be sentenced.
In a plea deal in February with prosecutors, Reginaldo Etienne said he was guilty of two counts of second-degree sexual assault. Eight other charges were to be dismissed. WITI-TV reported on Monday that Etienne had told the judge he no longer wants to admit to something he did not do and that his attorney pressured him to take the deal.
Etienne’s attorney, Terry Rose, has moved to withdraw as his counsel. A judge did not immediately decide whether to grant Etienne’s request and told him he must first hire a new defense attorney.om
