SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — A Sheboygan Falls woman accused of killing her 2-year-old son will have a psychiatric exam after pleading not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect to the charges against her.
Twenty-seven-year-old Katlyn Kinateder faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide and moving a child’s corpse. Prosecutors say she called 911 on Aug. 4 and told police she had killed her son.
A criminal complaint says Kinateder admitted to killing the toddler by placing a plastic bag over his head. Officers found the child in a box in a hallway closet at Kinateder’s apartment.
Officers say Kinateder was subdued with a stun gun after she came after them with a large butcher knife when police responded. The complaint says Kinateder told investigators she armed herself with the knife because she wanted police officers to shoot her.
