MADISON — Outside groups supporting Justice Rebecca Bradley’s bid for the Wisconsin Supreme Court outspent groups backing challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg almost four-to-one.
That’s according to new figures government watchdog group Wisconsin Democracy Campaign released Wednesday, a day after Bradley defeat Kloppenburg to win a 10-year seat on the high court.
According to the watchdog organization’s data, outside groups supporting Bradley spent about $2.7 million. Groups supporting Kloppenburg spent a little more than $710,000.
The biggest outside spender was Wisconsin Alliance for Reform, which spent about $2.6 million on television and radio advertising supporting Bradley. The Greater Wisconsin Committee spent $710,000 on ads and other efforts to support Kloppenburg. A political action committee affiliated with teachers’ union Wisconsin Education Association Council spent about $2,400 in support of Kloppenburg.
