GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — A former Brown County sheriff’s deputy has pleaded guilty to stealing from a drug abuse prevention program.

Kevin Vanden Huevel spent more than 20 years with Brown County’s DARE program. He and a volunteer allegedly handed out fake parking passes for the DARE lot near Lambeau Field and pocketed some of the cash.

WLUK-TV reports that Vanden Heuvel pleaded guilty Friday to one count of theft of more than $10,000 by an employee as party to a crime and one count of misconduct in office. As part of a plea deal, two other counts were dismissed, but the judge may consider them at sentencing.

Prosecutors have agreed to recommend a sentence of two years in prison and four years extended supervision. Sentencing is set for June 17.
