PORTAGE, Wis. (AP) — A judge has ordered a Columbia County man accused of killing his girlfriend in 2013 to be committed to a psychiatric treatment facility until found competent to proceed with his trial.
Forty-seven-year-old Patrick Kraemer of Rio is charged with first-degree intentional homicide. He’s accused in the April 2013 death of 43-year-old Traci Rataczak, who was found hanging from a floor joint in the basement of a home.
The Portage Daily Register reported Monday the judge ordered Kraemer to be committed to a secure mental health treatment facility. The facility would report back to the court within 90 days and every 90 days following.
A competency exam had been ordered. Kraemer took issue with how the analysis was performed, saying he wasn’t given warning or time to prepare.
