Man pleads not guilty in infant’s death in Fond du Lac

Fond du Lac (AP) — A 29-year-old Illinois man has pleaded not guilty to charges in the death of a 14-month-old boy in Fond du Lac.

Daniel Antwon Griffin of Bellwood, Ill., was in court for an arraignment hearing Monday. Griffin is charged with first-degree reckless homicide and two counts of child abuse causing great bodily harm in the boy’s death and abuse of his twin brother, according to Action Reporter Media.

Griffin is accused of stepping on the boy and killing him in July.  Griffin was arrested last month at a hotel in Texas on a warrant, according to law enforcement. He’s being held on a $1 million cash bond.

The twin boys’ mother, Airrealle Smart, has pleaded not guilty to charges including child neglect resulting in death.
