MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Dane County judge has refused to reissue a restraining order against a frequent University of Wisconsin System protester.
Former UW-Stevens Point student Jeff Decker has long protested the use of student fees at meetings on different campuses. The Board of Regents in 2011 took out a restraining order against him barring him from all UW property.
The state Supreme Court ruled in July that Decker’s actions amounted to harassment but found the restraining order was too broad. The high court sent the case back to Dane County Circuit Judge Richard Niess to narrow its parameters.
Online court records show Niess refused to reopen the case on Friday. A spokeswoman for the state Justice Department said that means the order no longer exists.
