MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Democrat who narrowly lost a bid for the party’s nomination for a southwestern Wisconsin state Senate seat says he won’t challenge recount results in court.

Initial results from last month’s primary in the 17th Senate District showed Ernie Wittwer defeated Pat Bomhack by seven votes. A recount that wrapped up last week showed Bomhack ahead by 33 votes.

The recount revealed 110 missing votes in Monroe. The Green County canvassing board didn’t count those votes in its recount but Witter said then that even if the votes had been counted Bomhack still would have won by three votes.

Wittwer said Friday that he won’t challenge the recount results in court, saying his chances looked slim.

Bomhack will face Republican state Rep. Howard Marklein in the Nov. 4 general election.
