MILWAUKEE (AP) — A Milwaukee man has been sentenced to 42 years in prison for fatally shooting the cook at a restaurant last December.
Twenty-nine-year-old Delorean Bryson was convicted last month of first-degree reckless homicide for the death of 21-year-old Reginald Evans at a George Webb restaurant on Milwaukee’s east side. Bryson had been charged with first-degree intentional homicide.
Assistant District Attorney Mark Williams says Evans was acting as a peacemaker, trying to keep order after Bryson and his group began harassing a customer and waitresses.
Witnesses said Bryson shot Evans in the chest from point-blank range during a brief scuffle. Evans bled to death on the floor of the restaurant.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Bryson apologized in court for the crime.
