Wausau — A high school religion teacher has been ordered to stand trial on child pornography charges in Marathon County.

Fifty-year-old Michael Switalski waived his right to a preliminary hearing during a court appearance Wednesday in court. The Newman Catholic High School teacher is accused of having nearly 100 photos and 12 DVDs containing sexually explicit images of boys.

A criminal complaint says Switalski was one of hundreds of customers who bought the material from Azov Films in Toronto, which was raided in 2012. Daily Herald Media (http://wdhne.ws/1pA2y1Q ) reports police say more than 300 Azov customers in more than a dozen countries have been arrested as a result of the raid.

Defense attorney Richard Lawson asked Judge Greg Huber to reduce Switalski’s $75,000 cash bond. That request is under consideration.
