WATERFORD, Wis. (AP) — A therapist in suburban Milwaukee has pleaded not guilty to charges that he physically abused an autistic 3-year-old boy during a home therapy session.

Online court records say 27-year-old Stephen T. Jacobs of Wauwatosa waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Jacobs was reading to the boy during a Dec. 14 session in the town of Waterford. Prosecutors say the boy started crying, and Jacobs head-butted, kicked and elbowed the child.

According to the criminal complaint, the mother set up a camera to record the session. The complaint says the video shows the boy crying, and then Jacobs shaking him, head-butting him and kicking his head.

Prosecutors downgraded the charges to a lesser felony Wednesday. Defense attorney Kaivon Yazdani says he’s happy about that, but says he can’t comment further at this point.
