MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) — The family of a woman killed in one of Wisconsin’s most notorious homicides wants to drop their wrongful death lawsuit.
Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey were convicted of killing 25-year-old photographer Teresa Halbach on the family property near Mishicot on Oct. 31, 2005.
Halbach’s family filed the lawsuit in 2006, seeking unspecified monetary damages.

Sheboygan Press Media reports the family released a statement on Friday saying they still believe Avery and Dassey are responsible for Teresa Halbach’s death. But they wrote that following through on the civil case would be time consuming and painful. They added they feel like it’s time to move on and “live life like Teresa.”
The family said their attorney has filed a motion for voluntary dismal of the suit.
