Katherine Rist’s plate is full, but she likes it that way.

As senior counsel in Foley & Lardner’s real estate and finance, and financial institutions practices, Rist juggles work, family and volunteer commitments.

“I definitely prioritize certain organizations that mean a lot to me or to the community,” she said. “I get to meet and work with wonderful, smart people who do wonderful things.”

Rist heads up the firm’s United Way campaign, is on the board of trustees for Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart Inc. as special counsel and is a member of the UW Health Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Community Advisory Council.

These commitments are in addition to her regular duties of mothering her two sons, ages 4 and 2, and working at a busy practice involving real-estate transactions, land development, zoning matters and negotiation of commercial and industrial leases.

“I think the real key in terms of goals is to continue to maintain a high level of practice,” she said, “while being a mom and wife.”

In order to balance it all, Rist, a 2005 University of Wisconsin Law School graduate, said she has learned to be “extremely efficient” while still providing strong service.
