Borrowers entering foreclosure in Milwaukee County now must be told of their eligibility to participate in the Metro Milwaukee Foreclosure Mediation Program.

Information about the program, paid for by the Wisconsin Department of Justice and run by the Milwaukee County Clerk of Circuit Courts, must accompany summonses and complaints of foreclosure sent to borrowers, according to a news release. Requests for mediation typically must be received within 30 days of receiving and summons and complaint.

MMFMP estimates almost half the cases that enter mediation with the program result in a loan modification.

Mediation requests can be made online at mediatemilwaukee.com.
