WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (AP) — A former Wood County doctor accused of sexually assaulting sedated patients has had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf.
Kevin A. Lang of Plover stood mute Thursday when asked to enter pleas to five counts of second-degree sexual assault of an intoxicated victim. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 200 years in prison.
Prosecutors say the assaults occurred between 2005 and 2009 while Lang was a gastroenterologist at the Marshfield Clinic. They say he made several patients touch him or themselves in a sexual manner while they were sedated.
Lang surrendered his medical license last summer to avoid disciplinary action by the state Medical Examining Board. The Marshfield News-Herald says he’s also named in six civil suits stemming from the allegations.
A message left with Lang’s attorney Saturday was not immediately returned.
