MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin man who shot his TV over Bristol Palin’s appearance on “Dancing with the Stars” will serve probation.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports that Steven Cowan, 68, was sentenced to three years of probation for misdemeanor disorderly conduct and negligently handling a weapon. Felony counts against Cowan for a nightlong standoff with police were withheld and may be dismissed if he completes probation.

Cowan was arrested in November when he blew out a television with a shotgun because the show featured the daughter of former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. According to court documents, Cowan became agitated over what he saw as a politically motivated appearance. They also alleged Cowan pointed the gun at his wife and threatened to kill himself.

A second-degree reckless endangerment charge was dismissed.
