Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Jeffrey B. Bartell, a partner who opened the firm’s Madison office in 1983, was honored at the Wisconsin State Bar Annual Convention with the Charles L. Goldberg Distinguished Service Award. The award recognizes attorneys for lifetime achievement in service to the profession and to the public. The award is sponsored by the Wisconsin Law Foundation.

Bartell focuses his practice in the areas of corporate services, corporate finance and securities, mergers and acquisitions, and insurance regulation. He earned a law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

The firm also announced that it received the Law Firm Service Award from the Dane County Bar Association (DCBA) for the Firm’s participation and support of the Family Court Assistance Project (FCAP). The award was presented at the DCBA Annual Law Day Pro Bono Breakfast in May.

Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. announced that attorney Michael P. Murphy has joined its Madison office where he will lead the Federal Indian Law practice.

In addition to leading WHD’s practice, Murphy will assist tribal governments and tribal entities in federal Indian law, tribal governance, sovereignty and jurisdiction, gaming, employment, economic development, housing, tax, environmental and litigation matters. He earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison.

John J. Schulze Jr., Marquette 2004, served as contributing editor for the American Bar Association Sherman Antitrust Act Section 1 Spring 2008 newsletter. He is an attorney with American Transmission Company in Waukesha.
