Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of Lavinia Goodell’s Admission to Practice Law in Wisconsin will be held Monday, June 17, 2024 at 5 p.m. at the Rock County Courthouse.

Event Details:
“Join us as we commemorate a pivotal moment in legal history, celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Lavinia Goodell’s Admission to Practice Law in Wisconsin. This event, sponsored in part by the Women Lawyers of the North, Legal Association for Women, and Association of Women Lawyers, will honor Goodell’s groundbreaking achievement in becoming Wisconsin’s first female lawyer and her lasting impact on the legal profession.”

Honorable Barbara McCrory, Rock County Circuit Court Judge

Keynote Speaker:
Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Annette Kingsland Ziegler

Event Overview:

Immediately following the event, a reception will be held at Genisa Wine Bar, 11 North Main Street, Janesville, WI. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by June 10.

Lavinia Goodell was a trailblazing figure in Wisconsin’s legal history. In 1874, she became the first woman admitted to practice law in the state.
