MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man who died while he was in custody at the Dane County Jail.
Thirty-three-year-old Preston Valliant, of Madison, died Friday at a local hospital. Authorities say a preliminary autopsy did not show a clear cause of death or any evidence of inflicted injury.
A deputy and other inmates heard signs of distress from Valliant while he was in the shower at about 10 a.m. Friday. He had been arrested for an alleged probation violation and brought to the jail at 5 a.m. Friday.
