Keppel elected as Wisconsin Law Foundation Fellow

Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown’s Kathryn Keppel has been elected as a Wisconsin Law Foundation Fellow. Wisconsin Law Foundation Fellows, who are selected annually, are recognized in the legal profession for outstanding attainment in professional, public, or private careers for devotion to the welfare of their community, state, and nation and the advancement of the legal profession.

Keppel is a partner at GRGB and the firm’s lead appellate attorney.

Teuber named Wisconsin Law Foundation Fellow

von Briesen’s Robert Teuber has been named a member of the 2016 Class of Fellows of the Wisconsin Law Foundation.

Teuber was a tax attorney and partner in Weiss Berzowski’s Milwaukee office before joining von Briesen.

Meissner Tierney earns Best Law Firm

Meissner Tierney Fisher & Nichols has been named to the 2017 edition of U.S. News’ Best Law Firms.

Meissner Tierney was named a Tier 1 law firm in Milwaukee for Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law, Litigation-Real Estate and Tax Law. In addition, the firm received Tier 2 rankings in Milwaukee for Trusts and Estates Law and Tier 3 rankings for Corporate Law, Environmental Law and Personal Injury Litigation-Defendants. Meissner Tierney also received a Tier 3 National Best Law Firms ranking for Litigation-Real Estate.

Ogletree Deakins named a Law Firm of the Year

Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart has been named a Law Firm of the Year for the sixth consecutive year by U.S. News. The 2017 award came in the Labor Law-Management category.

Additionally, Ogletree Deakins’ Milwaukee office earned metropolitan First Tier practice area rankings in the Employment Law-Management and Litigation-Labor and Employment categories. Nationally, the firm earned First Tier practice area rankings in six categories: Employee Benefits Law; Employment Law-Management; Labor Law-Management; Litigation-ERISA; Litigation-Labor and Employment; and Construction Law.

Reinhart, attorneys earn honors

Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren has received Benchmark Litigation 2017’s highest honor — being named a highly recommended law firm. Additionally, the publication has recognized attorneys Laura Brenner, Mark Cameli, Scott Hansen, David Peterson and Allen Schlinsog Jr.

Reinhart also ranked high in numerous practice areas in U.S. News’ Best Law Firms 2017, and 39 of the firm’s attorneys were recently recognized as 2016 Wisconsin Super Lawyers and 17 as Super Lawyers-Rising Stars.

Herbst-Flagstad named health group’s 1st general counsel

Marybeth Herbst-Flagstad has been named the first general counsel for Rogers Behavioral Health, where she will oversee risk management in addition to providing general counsel on legal matters for Rogers Behavioral Health System and Rogers Memorial Hospital.

She has served as an attorney for the Forest County Potawatomi Community and, prior to that, was senior counsel for Assurant Health in Milwaukee.

Hupy attorneys named Super Lawyers

Hupy and Abraham had five of its attorneys recognized as Super Lawyers for 2016. Managing Partner Jason Abraham has been named to the Wisconsin Super Lawyers list for the third consecutive year. Chad Kreblin, Brandon Derry and Robert Domol have been named to the Wisconsin Rising Stars list, and Tyler Patrick has been named to the Iowa Rising Stars list.

Pirkey receives Tipler Award

Buelow Vetter Buikema Olson & Vliet’s Nancy Pirkey was recently recognized during the Wisconsin School Attorneys Association membership meeting and named a recipient of the 2016 George Tipler Award.

Pirkey was nominated by school officials and member attorneys to receive this year’s Tipler Award because of her demonstration of high achievement and dedication to the representation of school districts in the state.

Pirkey joins fellow Buelow attorney Gary Ruesch, who was named the Tipler Award recipient in 2015.

Michael Best adds attorneys

Deanne Robison has joined Michael Best as an attorney in the Estate and Wealth Planning Services and Succession Planning practice. Robison advises clients on estate and wealth planning matters, focusing her practice on wealth transfer, estate administration, and elder law.

Jonathan Luljak has also joined the firm as an associate in the Real Estate Practice Group. He represents real estate developers in the acquisition, entitlement, financing, and construction of commercial real estate projects.

Adrienne Ehrhardt has also joined the firm as a partner in the Corporate and Transactional Practice Group. She provides counsel on complex data security issues, privacy policies and regulatory changes.

Michael Best Strategies has added former Deputy Attorney General of Wisconsin Andrew Cook in its Madison office as a senior advisor, where he will support Strategies’ regional state offices and in Washington, D.C.

Michael Best Strategies has also added Nathan Houdek, former chief of staff to the minority leader in the Wisconsin Senate, to its Madison office as senior advisor. Houdek will apply his government and public policy background, which includes more than a decade in politics and legislative support roles, to provide political and strategic communications counsel, issues management, and a spectrum of campaign-related work in the Wisconsin and Midwest region.

Milwaukee boutique firm hires Foley partner

Hansen Reynolds Dickerson Crueger has added Mike Leuder as a partner. His specialties will include consumer, banking-employment and business litigation.

Before coming to Hansen Reynolds, Lueder was a partner at Foley & Lardner, where he founded and led the firm’s consumer financial services litigation practice group.

DeWitt Ross & Stevens has promoted Deborah Meiners and Jordan Taylor to partner in its Madison office.

Meiners practices in the areas of Litigation, Construction Litigation, Labor and Employment and Title Insurance Litigation. Taylor is a member of the firm’s Trusts and Estates, Business, Employee Benefits and Real Estate practice groups.
