MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker says he will announce his appointment to the Wisconsin Supreme Court within days.

Walker told WTMJ radio in an interview Thursday that he will name the successor to retiring Justice David Prosser either on Friday or early next week. Prosser is retiring at the end of the month.

The three finalists for the seat are District 2 Appeals Court Judge Mark Gundrum, District 3 Appeals Court Judge Thomas Hruz and attorney Dan Kelly.

Walker calls them “outstanding finalists” and it’s going to be a “tough choice.”

Walker says whoever he picks is likely to be on the Supreme Court longer than he is governor and he wants to select someone who will uphold both the state and federal constitution, and “not make up the rules themselves.”
