A bill signed by Gov. Scott Walker this week will prevent physicians, physician assistants and registered nurses from being held legally liable when they perform body-cavity searches in certain circumstances.
The searches may be conducted when a person has been arrested on suspicion of committing a felony, certain misdemeanors, or is suspected of concealing a weapon or evidence. The law signed by the governor on Tuesday extends immunity not only to physicians, physician assistants and registered nurses but also their employers and the places where they work.
