Milwaukee (AP) — Appeals court Judge Rebecca Bradley has a called a news conference that will mark her first public appearance since registering to run for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Her planned comments Thursday come a day after two-term state Supreme Court Justice Patrick Crooks announced his retirement.
Fellow state appellate court Judge Joanne Kloppenburg and Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Joe Donald have also announced they are running for the seat.
Crooks had been a swing vote between the four-judge conservative majority and two-judge liberal minority.
Bradley has support among conservatives, while Kloppenburg has backing from Democrats. Donald is trying to position himself as an independent.
A Feb. 16 primary will narrow the field to two candidates. The general election is April 5.
