MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen is suing Corinthian Colleges, alleging the for-profit education company used deceptive marketing to enroll students in a now-closed Milwaukee school.

According to the complaint, an investigation found Corinthian got students to enroll at Everest College in Milwaukee by allegedly misrepresenting the school’s job placement rates.

The complaint alleges Corinthian inflated its graduation rates and that Corinthian’s recruiters represented to prospective students a national job placement of up to 90 percent, while the Milwaukee campus actually had a job placement as low as 5 percent.

The Milwaukee school closed in August 2013 and provided some refunds to students who did not graduate. The complaint seeks restitution for affected students and graduates.

A representative of the Santa Ana, Calif.-based company did not immediately return a phone message Monday.
