MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin will soon find out who is officially running for attorney general.
Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne, Jefferson County District Attorney Susan Happ and state Rep. Jon Richards of Milwaukee are all vying for the Democratic nomination. Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel is the only Republican in the race.
They have until 5 p.m. Monday to turn in their official nomination papers to the state Government Accountability Board. They must supply at least 2,000 valid signatures to get on the ballot.
GAB records show Richards turned in 4,000 signatures on Friday. None of the other candidates had submitted any as of early Monday morning.
The partisan primary is set for Aug. 12. The general election follows on Nov. 4.
