KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — A jury in Kenosha County has convicted a man of beating and strangling a 26-year-old woman and leaving her body in a Somers cemetery.

Javier Garcia was the last person seen with Lisa Marie Mezera before her body was discovered in the B’nai Zedek Cemetery in August 2012. The Kenosha News reports jurors deliberated about an hour before returning with guilty verdicts for first-degree intentional homicide and four other charges Monday.

The homicide conviction carries a mandatory life sentence, but the sentencing judge can set a date for which the 52-year-old convict would be eligible for supervised release.
