MILWAUKEE (AP) — A man charged with killing a 5-year-old girl crossing a Milwaukee street with her mother told authorities the child ran out in front of his vehicle, he panicked and drove away.
According to a criminal complaint, Rickyia Langham was holding her mother’s hand as they headed to church Nov. 6 when she broke away and ran into the street. Thirty-year-old Sherman Liddell is charged with hit-and-run causing a death and driving with a suspended license. He remains in the Milwaukee County Jail.
Prosecutors have also charged Liddell’s girlfriend. Twenty-eight-year-old Lasheba Crowder is charged with obstructing an officer who was investigating the death.
