MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for fatally running over his 2-year-old son, then trying to kill the boy’s mother and her new boyfriend.
Thirty-two-year-old Jesus Castillo-Dimas was sentenced Thursday in Dane County. Castillo-Dimas pleaded no contest in April to first-degree reckless homicide in the 2012 death of his son, Yandel Castillo-Castillo, and attempted first-degree intentional homicide for trying to kill his ex-girlfriend, Maria Castillo-Castillo, the boy’s mother.
Judge Ellen Berz says the woman worried in a victim impact statement that one day Castillo-Dimas would get out of prison “and finish what he started and kill me.”
The judge gave Castillo-Dimas what will likely be a life sentence. The Wisconsin State Journal reports he is also in custody on a federal immigration hold.
