Dane County will receive a $24,000 grant from the American Bar Association to help the county reduce racial disparities in the criminal justice system.
The grant will help pay for the use of technical advice and data analysis to eliminate racial disparities. It will pay for those efforts for two years, starting in June.
Dane County was one of four places in the U.S. that was chosen to receive the money. The grant comes from the Racial Justice Improvement Project, which was started in 2010 by the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section with the support of the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
