MARINETTE, Wis. (AP) — Marinette city officials have hired two attorneys to possibly help remove the mayor after his drunken driving arrest earlier this month.
Mayor Bob Harbick was arrested after his sports utility vehicle struck a light pole.
WFRV-TV reports that a committee voted Thursday to hire one attorney to prosecute the case against the mayor and one to represent the council.
Committee Chair David Buechler said the case will likely end in a public hearing in August.
He said the council needs ¾ of members to vote to fire the mayor. The city will pay the legal fees.
Harbick won’t seek re-election when his term is up in April. Harbick has repeatedly said he won’t resign.
He was not at Thursday’s meeting and has previously said he has no further comment.
