Christopher J. MacGillis

Chris MacGilllis, founder and trial lawyer of MacGillis Law Group, is widely recognized as one of Wisconsin’s preeminent trial lawyers.

Chris has obtained numerous significant verdicts/settlements against major corporations, insurance companies, and employers, including multiple jury verdicts in excess of $5,000,000. Known for his relatable and authentic style, Chris has a proven track record of winning catastrophic injury cases, often after being brought in by other lawyers to help win after settlement is not an option.

Chris is credited with handling several high profile and significant cases that have helped shape Wisconsin law. He has successfully argued before the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and the Wisconsin Supreme Court. His footprint reaches beyond Wisconsin — trying cases in other states — and recognized nationally for his work representing injury clients.

His work extends beyond the courtroom. Chris is a frequent lecturer, author, and adjunct law professor at Marquette Law School — teaching trial advocacy.

Chris serves on numerous boards. He is slotted to be President of the Wisconsin Association of Justice and was previously appointed by the Chief Judge of the Wisconsin Supreme Court to serve and act as Chair for the District Committee for the Office of Lawyer Regulations

Chris has noted that his greatest career accomplishment is earning the trust of his clients and co-workers. Especially important to Chris is his relationship with First Responders — representing many of the largest police and fire unions in Wisconsin. “To do this job well, we must be willing to emotionally connect with our clients. Have a meal together. Learn about their family, learn about their past, learn about what’s important to them. Listen and truly care about why your client is special.”
