A partner at Peckerman Klein & Van Kirk, she practices family law exclusively since 2002. She became a partner at the firm in 2009 and is an American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers trained and certified mediator.

Like her colleagues, Van Kirk brings an important human element to the process — compassion. She genuinely cares about each of her clients and treats them with kindness and respect while advocating for their best interests.

Van Kirk volunteered for the Wisconsin National Guard Family Program from 2004 to 2013, serving in several volunteer positions and on the Family Program’s State Advisory Council. She received a Patrick Henry Award from the National Guard Association of the United States for her efforts.

A partner with Houseman & Feind, Margaret Zickuhr is a seasoned family law attorney with a unique combination of roles as both a Guardian ad Litem and mediator. She works extensively in the family and juvenile courts, handling divorce, post-judgment, child support, stepparent adoption and CHIPS matters.

When serving as a Guardian ad Litem, Zickuhr advocates solely for the child, making tough recommendations when necessary. In her role as a mediator, she works to foster cooperation and guide parents toward balanced agreements. Zickuhr emphasizes the distinction between the two, making it clear to parents what her role is in their case.

Zickuhr is an adjunct professor at Marquette University Law School and a former law and ethics educator at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Cardinal Stritch University.

She is Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is a past president of the Ozaukee and Washington County Bar Associations. She is also currently a member of the Leader J. Foley Matrimonial Inns of Court, Society of Family Lawyers and of the Wisconsin Association of Mediators and Association of Family and Conciliatory Courts.
